Taken in late September at Portage Des Perche.  This was the last of a series of portages up the Mattawa River and as they were no longer needed, the Voyageurs then threw away their river poles or "perches".

Talon Chutes

Pictured on an early November morning from atop the cliffs on the north shore the water flow through the chutes was quite high.

Early May sees the full flow of the Mattawa River over the Paresseau Falls.
