The Sam Jacks Recreation Center on Gertrude St. needs to be replaced as the building has been
determined to need significant is upgrades and it will be less expensive to build a new community center rather
than repair the existing one. A new twin pad facility has been decided as the best replacement option.
As a member of the Relocation Committee, under Chair Mark King, Omischel Park was decided as the preferred location. The new community center in West Ferris should be a true multi-use community center, not just an arena.

Infrastructure should be an ongoing priority for the City
of North Bay, and inspite of being vital to the use and
growth of our community, is a frequent target of budget
cuts. My own position is that it will be less expensive in
the long term to invest in roads, sewer, water and
bridge repairs before they wear out on a crisis basis
and that we need to maintain and grow the level of
work we do.
