Lake Chiniguchi Area

Milky Way over Donald Lake                 August 2014

Clear nights were rare this summer. The haze from forest fires out west added the additional colour to a late night sky looking towards Sudbury.

The north end of Donald Lake is a favourite destination for many canoers as it offers such a picturesque setting. Taken on an early August morning heavy mists  was hugging the shoreline and created a pleasant backdrop to the shoreline pine trees.

The North East arm of Lake Matagamasi is one of my favourite locations to enjoy an early morning sunrise. Taken in mid-August the sunrise eventually came up directly in the middle of the opposite island.

Chiniguchi River

Between Lake Sylvestre and Lake Matagamasi the Chinguchi River runs through some of the prettiest waterfalls in the Chiniguchi and Temagami Park areas.

With November morning  temperatures hovering around freezing a warm camp fire provide some welcome heat. Great view for morning coffee.

Sunrise on Donald Lake

The north end of Donald Lake is a particularly beautiful part of the Matagamasi - Chinguchi waterways area.  Taken in the early morning in the first days of May , many of the trees have not yet come into leaf that will eventually hide the views of the lower cliffs.

In early May of 2013 there was a break in the cloudy and wet Spring weather long enough to provide a few beautiful clear days outside.   Taken around  9:00 p.m., sunset is still early compared to the summer months but the light just after sunset can create some beautiful blue tones in the sky. No wind on the water just adds to the calmness of the evening and in early May - no bugs!
